Film and television would be nothing without the people who sit in front of a screen, ready to be swept away by a whirlwind of emotions. This is why the audience also hands out prizes at the Platino Awards. An initiative launched by Iberia that, for several years now, has allowed viewers to choose their favourite film, series, actors and actresses. Do you want to know the winners of the 2026 edition?

Once again, the Audience Platino Awards ceremony proved to be the perfect prelude to the Platino Awards. These awards, sponsored by Iberia through its Talento a bordo initiative, allow viewers to express their preferences in six categories: Best Film, Best Series, Best Actor in Film, Best Actress in Film, Best Actor in a Series, and Best Actress in a Series. Furthermore, their votes entered them into a giveaway for a cinematic experience at Xcaret, the Platino Awards venue in Riviera Maya (Mexico): a double room at a VIP hotel, tickets for the ceremony and after-party, transfers in official vehicles, access to the red carpet and 150,000 Avios. Since its inception, the awards have recognised films such as Argentina 1985, Roma, and Marshland; series such as News of a Kidnapping, Burning Body, and One Hundred Years of Solitude; actors like Javier Gutiérrez, Ricardo Darín, Javier Bardem and Luis Tosar, and actresses like Penélope Cruz, Yalitza Aparicio, Carolina Yuste and Natalia Oreiro. Who will follow in the footsteps of the 2025 winners? Find out below.

Mejor película – Los domingos

Who has taken over from the 2025 winners? Find out below.

Mejor serie – Chespirito

The Mexican series El Chavo del Ocho transcended borders, turning its creator and star, Roberto Gómez Bolaños —aka Chespirito— into a global icon. Starring Pablo Cruz, this production, which won the Audience Award at the Platino Awards, revisits the comedian’s career spanning three decades —from the 1950s to the early 1980s— during which he sacrificed everything in search of love and recognition. He achieved this not only with El Chavo del Ocho, but also with the emblematic El Chapulín Colorado, titles full of iconic characters that left an indelible mark on millions of people.

Mejor actor cine – Wagner Moura

During Brazil’s military dictatorship, a former professor attempting to flee persecution arrives in Recife to be reunited with his son. In The Secret Agent, Wagner Moura portrays this intellectual crushed by the system, who, as the film unfolds, becomes a symbol of resistance and dignity in the face of disgrace. His performance, a conduit for an unsettling dialogue between past and present, earned him the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor, followed by an Oscar nomination for Best Actor —the first ever for a Brazilian. A milestone for an actor who rose to global fame playing Pablo Escobar in Narcos back in 2015. Now, he also receives the audience’s recognition at the Platino Awards.

Mejor actriz cine – Patricia López Arnaiz

Spanish cinema in recent years would be incomprehensible without the mesmerising gaze of Patricia López Arnaiz. Her performances in Ane —which won her her first Goya Award—, 20,000 Species of Bees, Glimmers, The Daughter and Sundays attest to this. Aware that her niece Ainara seeks refuge in faith to compensate for certain emotional deficiencies, Maite —as her character is called— embarks on a personal crusade to prevent her from entering a convent. The intensity of her performance earned her a second Goya Award and the audience’s recognition at the Platino Awards. The culminating scene with Ainara, brilliantly portrayed by budding actress Blanca Soroa who blurts out a devastating “I’ll pray for you”, was one of the most iconic cinematic moments of 2025.

Mejor actor serie – Álvaro Morte

On the 23rd of February 1981, Civil Guard Lieutenant Colonel Antonio Tejero stormed the Congress of Deputies, gun in hand. One of the key figures that day was Adolfo Suárez, then president of Spain’s budding democracy. In The Anatomy of a Moment, Alberto Rodríguez’s adaptation of Javier Cercas’ successful novel, Álvaro Morte portrays this serene, charismatic and audacious man in a role unlike any he’d previously played, earning him praise and accolades. Winner of the Fotogramas de Plata Award, he also received nominations for the Feroz and Forqué Awards. The Audience Award at the Platino Awards is a familiar one for the actor, who previously won it in 2021 for Money Heist.

Mejor actriz serie – Candela Peña

Nat works as a sales assistant in a high-end fashion boutique and loves her job… until new talent takes her place, turning her life upside down. Thanks to this role in Rage, Candela Peña has once again won the Audience Platino Award —last year she won it for her portrayal of Rosario Porto in The Asunta Case. It is an award that, we’re certain, the actress would gladly share with the rest of her co-stars in this ensemble series: Carmen Machi, Nathalie Poza, Cecilia Roth (2024 Honorary Platino Award), Pilar Castro, Claudia Salas and Ana Torrent. In fact, all these women, pushed to their limits, received the Ondas and Fotogramas de Plata Awards. Furthermore, this Catalan actress was also nominated individually at the Feroz, Forqué and Iris Awards.
